ABOUT US
Tourism development in Budva raised issues of quality offer for foreign tourists, especially in the sphere of culture. That was also the time when the local traditions got a chance to be revived and promoted. In order to achieve that, Cultural Center of Budva was founded, which had an aim to organize the local cultural and artistic community.
Firstly the folklore group "Kanjos" was created in 1972. The other sections of the the group are being founded very soon, and that's when mixed city choir was organized.

City choir was soon transformed into two vocal groups. Firstly men group was founded, and then women group was created in 1983. At the begining it functioned as part of Cultural Society "Kanjos" from Budva. It became independent vocal group in 1989. and continued under the name "Harmonia".

At the very beginning, the repertoire was made of mostly Dalmatian and coastal songs, which are charachteristic for so-called "klapa" type of vocal singing. During the time, the repertoire was expanded and apart from typical mediterrannean melodies, it now includes choir tunes from popular operas, old masterpieces, traditional Montenegrin and ethnic songs from the region, as well as some pop melodies.

"Harmonia" is recognized as one of the essential parts of the cultural identity of Budva. Its three decades long history proves that this vocal group made succesfull impact. Their dedication and always expanding repertoire ensure that the vocal group has great and bright future in Budva.
